The Approach: 

After our initial brainstorming and conceptualization phases, I began to participate in fleshing out the machine concept. This involved detailed market research and collaboration with external design departments.

Research and Development: 

Through multiple phases of interviews and user studies involving outside participants, along with ongoing surveys and market research, I was able to help bring the machine from a rough prototype to a fully-functioning unit. I collected and compiled statistics on similar product offerings and potential usages, along with information on import/export regulations and geographic comparisons of consumer behavior.


Research data and feedback gathered through user studies and other online sources influenced the overall design and function of our machine. I was able to realize quick design changes through 3D modeling using Autodesk Maya to 3D print components on a Makerbot Replicator 2 printer, while I was continuously adapting the integrated user interface using a combination of design programs like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, along with functional prototyping applications like POP and Sketch apps that allowed us to quickly test and adapt design alterations.


Key Takeaways and Results: 

While I was greatly involved in most aspects of the machine’s development, my greatest contributions were in the form of 3D printing and applying user experience test results to improving the machine’s appearance and functionality. The product has not yet been released.
